Launched in 2009 by Andrea Pasinetti, Teach for China has sent 600 American and Chinese college graduates to teach in underprivileged schools in southern China — no small feat considering the restrictions usually placed on NGOs with U.S. ties. Taking young graduates out of their respective ivory towers is a first step; the lessons that they provide, and receive, as a part of their experience may redound for decades after.
